The oldest Volkswagen dealership in Canada! This family-owned dealership has never changed hands since its conception in 1952. Bruce Passmore, the founder, came to Victoria in 1945. The following year he bought Langford Speedway, which he operated until 1951. In 1952 he started "Speedway Auto Sales" at Yates & Quadra. This was a used car operation until the next year, 1953, when he took on the Volkswagen franchise as "Speedway Motors Ltd."In 1956 the business moved to 971 Yates. In that year it also became a Porsche dealership. The Audi franchise followed later, when that make was revived, purchased by VW, and first exported to Canada. Roy Passmore took over the management of Speedway from his father in 1975. The third move occurred in 1985, when the store moved to its present location at 3329 Douglas Street.
